Advertisers grab takeaway opportunity

There’s already advertising on everything from eggs to bus tickets. Now that last refuge of a Friday night, the takeaway meal, has been targeted.

Disposable lid manufacturer Spiral Packs has created a new advertising medium by putting consumer brands on the covers of takeaway food packs.

As of tomorrow (Thursday) food bought at more than 17,000 take-away restaurants will carry advertising on Adlids. First among those featured on Adlids are Tango, Dry Blackthorn Cider and Rock Circus. Other brands are expected to follow.

Richard Francis, managing director at Spiral Packs, who created Adlids says the new medium is guaranteed to get its message across.

Francis says Adlids will “demand repeated, focused attention from consumers across a high-income sector, at a time when the treat of a convenience meal puts them in a receptive frame of mind”.
