Anglian Windows has reduced the shortlist for its estimated 5m account to M&C Saatchi and TBWA. Bates Dorland and a division of Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, which also pitched for the business, have been dropped. A final decision is expected later this week.

Mercedes Cars has begun drawing up a four-strong shortlist for its 8.5m UK account, which was resigned by Leo Burnett earlier this month and has been at the AAR.

The European Parliament’s Culture Committee, which includes the Greek singer Nana Mouskouri, meets next Tuesday amid calls for a ban on advertising to children. The committee’s final report is likely to be discussed and voted on in the Parliament’s November plenary session.

Barkers has been appointed by Midland Main Line to handle the 1m launch of its brand and business travel products.

J Walter Thompson has appointed Helayne Spivak as chief executive creative officer of North America and worldwide creative director. Spivak was formerly worldwide creative director for Ammirati Puris Lintas.

Anchor is to advertise on sandwich packs in Sainsbury’s, Asda and Safeway through Wedge Media. Packs will mark that the sandwiches have been made with Anchor Extra Mature Cheddar.

Ford has appointed The Network to be its online media planning and buying agency. The Network pitched against new media company WCJ Interactive.

Pizza Hut has signed footballers Stuart Pearce, Chris Waddle and Gareth Southgate to star in the restaurant chain’s latest ads. The company’s current agency is Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO.

EURO RSCG Healthcare has won the 3m baby healthcare SMA Nutrition account.

Lowe Direct has hired two new creative teams. The additions are art director Darren Fry and copywriter John Taylor, plus Chris Catchpole (art) and Darren Kay (copywriter).
