United Distillers, the leading spirits company is linking with Interflora to offer doorstep deliveries of Gordon’s gin and Glen Ord whisky with flowers. It is the first time Interflora has launched such a tie up with a brand company. It is in negotiations with other gift companies to develop similar links, and is close to signing an agreement with a top confectionery company.

Heinz UK is speeding up its new product launches with the creation of its first dedicated innovation unit. The company has appointed an internal team to work with London-based new product development consultancy ?What If!. It has a brief to bring together all elements of npd across the company.

Sharwood’s, the leader in the ethnic food market, is to spend 3m repositioning itself as a more modern brand to fight off growing competition in an increasingly crowded market. Sharwood’s agency Walsh Trott Chick Smith, will unveil its first advertising for the brand on November 4, a generic campaign showing Asia as it is today.

Switch, the debit card, is set to launch the second burst of its 2m poster campaign on November 1. The national campaign, created by Collett Dickenson Pearce, will include two successful ads from previous bursts, Dough Dough and Muggins, as well as two new ads which are based on familiar children’s television characters.

Virgin Express, the regional airline, plans to present a bid for ailing carrier Air Liberté topping that of rival British Airways, if a French court agrees to wait.

Sun Valley Foods, the poultry products manufacturer, has appointed senior product manager Karen Hall as its marketing manager for all branded products in its restructured marketing department. Hall reports to marketing director Keith Chesson.
