Key Carlton player to head Cinema Media marketing

Cinema Media has brought in Carlton UK Sales’ commercial account director Debbie Chalet to head its sales and marketing division.

Chalet was the prime mover behind Carlton Communication’s 58.5m purchase of Cinema Media in July.

Cinema Media, formerly RSA Advertising, has contracts with leading cinema chains to sell advertising and has more than 80 per cent of that market in the UK.

Chalet replaces Katrina Hill, who left the company in September after the acquisition. She joined Cinema Media in September on secondment from Carlton and was officially appointed to the position this week.

In July, Carlton bought Cinema Media, which had a 1995 operating profit of 7m, from its previous management and venture capitalists Schroder Ventures.

Adam Poulter, former marketing director of the transport advertising company TDI, was brought in as managing director and has since overhauled the company’s structure and personnel.

Chalet has 18 years’ experience in TV airtime sales for Carlton, Thames and Granada.

She was group head of sales at Carlton before being promoted to commercial account director this year and working on the Cinema Media purchase.

Poulter says two new positions have now been created at Cinema Media, sales controller and head of client sales.
