Britannia to rethink 4m creative brief

The Britannia Building Society is understood to be looking for an advertising agency to handle its 4m creative account.

The account is currently held by Manchester-based BDH, which is a subsidiary of the GGT Group. BDH had held the business for over two years.

The move comes just two weeks after the company had completed a review of its media agency. It moved the account out of John Ayling & Associates and into Manning Gottlieb Media (MW October 25). Ayling, Mediapolis, and The Media Business North were the unsuccessful agencies for that pitch.

Though the financial services group denies that it is looking for a new creative agency, a number of agencies claim they will be pitching for the business as early as next week.

The advertising review at Britannia began in the summer (MW August 23) when Gerald Gregory was promoted from head of lending to marketing director.

He replaced Mike Kirsch, who left in June to become head of marketing at NatWest Life & Investment Services.
