Andrew Kitching, marketing chief at the Mirror Group, has restructured his promotions and marketing department.
Jill Playle, former group promotions director at Express Newspapers has been appointed Daily Mirror marketing director. She replaces Ros Collier, group promotions manager for the Daily Mirror. Collier had already resigned and is working out her notice period. Playle joins in December.
Kitching has also appointed Margaret Harvey, former group account director at sales promotion agency IMP, as marketing director of The Independent. She joined this week, replacing Michelle Benato, who was appointed promotions manager for The Independent in the summer (MW June 21). Benato left last week.
Both will be in charge of all consumer marketing for their respective titles.
The appointments follow a turbulent year for the Mirror Group’s marketing department.
Kitching joined as managing director of marketing from the New York Daily News in July, replacing Charles Kirchner who left in May (MW May 24). In August Mirror Group’s head of promotions, Rhidian Crichton-Stuart, left to become marketing director of Virgin Radio.
