Bishop homes in on Mirror’s girl

The return of Alan Bishop to run Saatchi & Saatchi’s London oper-ations will have an impact on more than just Charlotte Street.

The return of Alan Bishop to run Saatchi & Saatchi’s London oper-ations will have an impact on more than just Charlotte Street.

It will also affect an Islington street where Bishop’s flat is rented out to a former Saatchi client. But presumably he will now want his flat back and Amanda Platell, former marketing director of Mirror Group Newspapers, one of the first clients to sack Saatchi after Maurice’s resignation, will have to go.

The sacking obviously didn’t rankle with Bishop, who has allowed his tenant, now consultant editor of the Sunday Mirror, to stay on for two years. “Presumably she will have to buy it or move on,” says one source, concerned that Bishop should not be homeless – and equally concerned he should not end up on his settee.
