McCann nets 4m Wimpey Homes task

Universal McCann has picked up the 4m media buying account for Wimpey Homes, following the resignation of the account by Zenith Media earlier this month.

Universal and CIA Medianetwork are believed to have been chasing the business.

The building company has yet to announce the results of its creative account review (MW Nov-ember 15).

Universal’s sister agency McCann-Erickson Birmingham is one of the roster agencies working on the company’s regional creative business.

Zenith resigned the account because of dissatisfaction with the level and timing of payments it received on the business.

The agency only won media account at the end of 1995 when the builder decided to centralise its media buying.

Wimpey’s media strategy makes extensive use of the regional press, and the company runs over 100 ads a week, which is time-consuming to plan, buy and administer.
