HIMG chooses new board in relaunch

The Hotel Industry Marketing Group (HIMG) has been relaunched as the Hotel Marketing Association (HMA). The HMA will remain the official industry branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is to be financed and operated by 14 major hotels chains.

The executive committee will include senior marketing executives from each chain.

The new chairman of the HMA is Hugh Taylor, head of marketing at Jarvis Hotels, and the deputy chairman Pamela Carvell, director of Pampas International Marketing.

The HMA will be supported by two sponsorship deals – one with BT, the other with the Reed Hotel Marketing Group.

Says Taylor: “The industry has demonstrated its commitment to the HMA and it’s now up to us to deliver on our promises.”
