Peter Jones has quit as president of Omnicom’s most profitable unit, Diversified Agency Services (DAS). Omnicom owns DDB Worldwide and BBDO Worldwide, as well as TBWA, and Jones is one of its highest ranking executives. He is a contender to replace Woodrow Wyatt as chairman of the Tote – the statutory betting body responsible for pouring money back into racing.

Gateway 2000 has narrowed its 50m global review to a list of three agencies. J Walter Thompson, D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and TBWA Chiat/Day will pitch again for the business. Leo Burnett, Lowe & Partners, and a joint team of Young & Rubicam and Dentsu lost out.

TBWA has created a fictitious character, Question Mark, to front a 1m campaign for new quiz TV channel Challenge TV. Media buying is by Universal McCann.

The Advertising Standards Authority has received a complaint from a member of the public about Bell Cablemedia’s ad campaign (which uses the slogan ‘British Telecon’) because it is ‘defamatory to BT’.

Delaney Fletcher Bozell has lost the creative business for the William Grant brands Taboo and Mirage to McCann-Erickson, the company has confirmed.

Osprey Park board account director Steve Greensted has quit. The former Woollams Moira Gaskin O’Malley managing director is joining another, as yet unidentified, agency.

Patak Spices is understood to be looking for an agency to handle its 800,000 account.

Zenith Media Worldwide is planning a restructure, following the loss of its international Visa account late last year. A small number of redundancies are expected.

McCann-Erickson Scotland has been hired to handle the Glasgow International Jazz Festival…

…The agency has also won the account for Lawsons, the flagship brand of Kerry Foods.

Viglen is understood to have selected a shortlist of two agencies for its 1.5m account: Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy and McCann-Erickson.
