Evans is not such a Brat after all

Ginger DJ Chris Evans, newly exited from the Radio One Breakfast Show, made an unexpected appearance last week at the NME Brat Awards.

While his successors to the prestigious airtime slot Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley were the genial hosts for the event, sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft, last year’s Brat Awards presenter Evans had to keep his mouth shut at the back of the room.

Insult was added to injury when the award for the best radio show – for which his Breakfast Show was nominated – went instead to the programme for pop buffs, the Evening Session. The Diary looked for Evans in vain at the aftershow party but concluded that like his Radio One contract, he got out early.
