Bass hands Carling Website expansion drive to Softbank

Softbank Interactive Marketing is to sell advertising on CarlingNet (www.fa-carling.com), its first win since establishing a London office last month.

CarlingNet, thought to be the busiest football site on the Web, was launched in November 1995 by Carling brewer Bass, as the official site for the FA Carling Premiership.

The site now generates 2.6 million monthly impressions, two-thirds of which come from outside the UK.

The deal with CarlingNet’s marketing agency Henagar aims to develop the site for UK and European-wide advertisers.

Softbank, which has won the contract for one year, will also advise CarlingNet on the use of promotions and competitions to improve site traffic.
