Travel is the best incentive

Oh dear Wanda, “Have a break from the office” (MW Letters, February 14), we are feeling grumpy. Bad hair day?

As chairman of the Incentive Travel & Meetings Association I could not let your rather jaded comments about group incentive travel pass by.

The UK incentive travel industry turns over about 500m per year. In the US, this figure is 4bn. Those people who work hard to qualify for overseas travel events cannot all be having a bad time.

In fact, numerous research studies show incentive travel is by far the most effective and preferred reward to motivate staff.

You sound as if you could do with some motivation yourself Wanda. Why not take yourself and your staff off to Paris for the weekend and put some fun back into the corporate grind?

Or perhaps your staff would prefer a Marks & Spencer voucher? I know which one I would prefer to receive as a reward for a job well done. Au revoir.
