Demon Internet picks BMP arm for 4m task

New media company Demon Internet has appointed BMP InterAction, BMP DDB’s new media division, as the first agency to handle its 4m account.

BMP InterAction beat Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO to the business. The launch campaign will be wide-ranging, covering press and possibly TV.

Samantha Smith, Demon’s marketing director, says: “We chose BMP because it had a balance between an innovative understanding of new media and the substantial weight of a big agency, which we will need.”

Smith will not confirm the amount that she will spend but calls it “significant”. She says, however, that in recent months Internet companies which have advertised heavily, have begun to gain market share.

According to EMAP Online’s Internet Marketing Hot List, CompuServe is the leading Internet service provider in the UK, with 400,000 members, America Online has 120,000, Microsoft Network has 105,000, and Demon is fourth with 90,000.
