Mediapolis has been appointed to the 1.5m media buying for French cosmetics company Boujois after a five-way pitch. The agency pitched against incumbent The Media Centre, Motive, Media Solutions and The Media Business.

Mills & Allen, the poster contractor, has appointed Kevin Shute director of sales, following the resignation last week of Paul Shearring, who has become deputy managing director of Poster Publicity.

Swissair (right) has signed up to run its first campaign on music station MTV. The campaign, bought through Y&R Europe, will run to November around MTV’s live programme output.

Carlton Food Network, the satellite station, has signed a 100,000 sponsorship deal with kitchen electrical appliance manufacturer Neff. The deal will see Neff featured on new kitchen sets on the channel, as well as cover on-air ads, Teletext pages, and a range of other through-the-line promotions.

The Media Shop is to handle a 600,000 national press campaign for Hammerite Metal Paint. The six-month push will include tabloid and broadsheet press.

EMAP Radio has appointed Dee Ford as managing director. Tim Schoonmaker, chief executive of EMAP Radio, says the appointment will allow him to extend his role in handling EMAP’s move into television. Ford has worked for EMAP Radio across its northern stations since 1994.

The Independent Radio Group has shifted national sales for all six of its local stations to Katz International. The deal, which becomes effective at the end of March, means national sales for Scot FM and Mercury Radio stations will switch from Capital Radio-controlled MSM.

Flextech’s in-house airtime sales operation is expected to expand to accommodate the launch of BBC-produced pay channels later this year. Under a deal signed between Flextech and BBC Worldwide this week, Flextech will take responsibility of providing airtimes sales for up to eight BBC-branded channels to be launched from the end of this year.

Turner Broadcasting Systems Europe has appointed Eric Clemenceau to advertising sales director and vice-president. Clemenceau, already head of airtime sales for Turner’s satellite stations across France and Germany, is to take command of the London sales office.

BMP DDB achieved AC Nielsen-MEAL media-only billings of 312m, not 269m as reported (MW February 28). This revision does not alter its ranking at number four. Mediacom was 11th, not tenth – a position filled by The Network.
