The Daily Telegraph has appointed its first direct marketing director.

Lindsay Nuttall, who quit her job as general manager for marketing at catalogue group Freemans in August last year, has joined the newspaper.

Nuttall admits that she is reviewing the paper’s 4m DM account, currently with Richardson Pailin & Fallows. Last year, the agency worked on circulation building, targeting new readers encouraging them to take The Telegraph over an extended period.

At Freemans, Nuttall introduced telemarketing and DRTV and worked on agency recruitment.

It is believed The Telegraph still plans to launch a branded credit card.
