Freepages signs up for Channel 5 weather slot

Channel 5 is about to sign Free pages as its third official sponsor.

The telephone directory service will sponsor the channel’s weather service, if the deal goes ahead. The contract would be for one year, but no details of its value are known.

Freepages currently sponsors GMTV’s weather and the contract lasts until the end of May. A spokeswoman for GMTV says the station has not even begun negotiations to renew the contract with Freepages.

No one at C5 was available to comment. The channel has already signed sponsorship deals with Nissan for the England-Poland World Cup qualifying football match at the end of May, as revealed by Marketing Week (March 14), and with Stella Artois for the 9pm film slot.

It is understood C 5 is still looking for sponsors for its children’s magazine, soap opera, daily consumer show and late-night youth programme.
