Will Royal Mail deliver the goods?

So, the Royal Mail is looking at a pricing system linked to the day of delivery (MW March 14). I am delighted. At last I can rely on press releases, trannies and all the other daily ephemera that goes with running a small PR business actually turning up when they are needed.

But am I missing a trick, or maybe I’m just cynical, because I can remember when a first class stamp really did mean that your letter would arrive the next day. Now a second class letter can sometimes be the proverbial tortoise in the race against the first class hare.

The Royal Mail might well be responding to “demands from industry”, but aren’t they just covering up for past inadequacies?
