Littlewoods plans review of 4m scratchcard brief

Littlewoods Lotteries has called a review of its 4m scratchcard account held by DMB&B.

The company says the move is part of a wider business review aimed at integrating the Lukcy brand, which it bought from UK Charity Lotteries at the end of last year. Littlewoods is running the Lukcy brand alongside its own Scratchies.

Littlewoods Lotteries is the scratchcard arm of Littlewoods Leisure, which handles the company’s gaming interests. These include the pools and spot the ball.

Sales and marketing director Andrew Slammin is understood to be conducting the review, although he would not comment to Marketing Week. But a Littlewoods spokesman says: “DMB&B handles advertising for Littlewoods Leisure as a whole. We are looking at all aspects of Littlewoods Lotteries, and we are holding a business review, including reviewing the advertising agency.”

DMB&B has held the Littlewoods Leisure business since it won it in a consolidation in December 1995, after a pitch against Lowe Howard-Spink and Bates Dorland.

The spokesman says that when Littlewoods acquired the Lukcy brand, its ad contract with Bartle Bogle Hegarty had expired, so the business was automatically put into DMB&B. After the takeover, Littlewoods appointed former international store director Jeremy Collis managing director of the Lotteries division.
