Consumers’ Association hires chief

The Consumers’ Association, publisher of Which? magazine, has appointed David Sneesby, business development director at research company Taylor Nelson AGB, as its marketing director.

Sneesby will take charge of CA’s 12.5m marketing budget in the early summer and will be responsible for hiring advertising and marketing agencies. He replaces Lesley Godwin, who left before Christmas with no job lined up.

The post is not a board position and Sneesby will report to commercial director Dave Roberts, who says: “We wanted someone to head the positioning and marketing of our interactive products.” These include the Which? Online Web service, and helplines for CA members. Roberts says new product development will play an important part in Sneesby’s role.

A direct response television ad campaign is being planned through direct marketing agency GGT Direct, though it is not known whether it will run on cable or terrestrial television.
