Mller plans to take on the savoury dip market

Mller, the German yogurt manufacturer, is looking at extending the brand into the savoury dip market.

It is understood that Mller is testing three flavour variants of a fromage frais-based dip – korma, cheese and chives, and spicy Mexican. The packs will also contain snack crackers.

Since its UK launch in 1986, Mller has stormed the yogurt market. Last year it had a 25 per cent share of the 522m sector by value and it became the fifth-largest grocery brand in the UK.

In February it launched Mller Candy Corner in lemon meringue pie, banoffee pie and Mississippi mud-pie flavours.

It also brought Joanna Lumley back to advertise the brand in a campaign from Team Saatchi, having dropped her two years ago in favour of supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Mller spends 6m on advertising (Nielsen-MEAL). Mller refused to comment as Marketing Week went to press.
