Home Office hires Nash to run 6m advertising

The former marketing director of National Savings Anne Nash has landed the job of running the Home Office’s 6m advertising budget.

She replaces Charles Skinner as head of publicity and corporate services, following a post-election shake-up at the Home Office.

The Home Office says it spent 5.6m in the 12 months to the end of March 1997 on campaigns, ranging from crime prevention to the Citizen’s Charter.

At least five agencies were used last year: Leagas Shafron Davis, BMP DDB, Leo Burnett, EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper and Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters. The Central Office of Information is currently reviewing its roster of agencies.

Nash will also be responsible for internal communications at the department, which under Home

Secretary Jack Straw is committed to introducing high-profile legislation to outlaw anti-social behaviour and private possession of handguns.

Nash lost her position at National Savings two months ago (MW March 7) when the top marketing role was axed and replaced by that of a commercial director.

Skinner is taking up a Cabinet Office post as head of the information officer management unit.
