Fusion New Media has been appointed by the Royal Albert Hall to develop an events listing, music sampling and online booking facility. It is also developing a CD-Rom-based tour of the concert hall as part of the project.

Amazon.com, the US online book retailer, has successfully raised $54m (36m) in a public offer, despite a prospectus which predicts “substantial operating losses for the foreseeable future” and a warning that exponential growth rates in sales will probably not be sustainable.

New Media Marketing & Sales has been appointed to handle Internet sales for the Website of London listings title Time Out (timeout.co.uk). The appointment comes two years after the site was set up, and despite the fact Time Out’s own sales team has had some success in winning advertising from companies such as British Airways and Levi’s.

Roxton Sporting, the England-based chain of specialist fieldsports shops, is extending its recently launched site – aimed at Polo fans – with the addition of a results service covering North America. The site (polonet.co.uk), which already lists results and club information for the UK, is generating significant online sales of equipment to polo players across Europe, Australasia and the US.
