Classic FM/BMG Entertainment International is shortlisting agencies for a 1.5m account to launch its 15m record label, scheduled for Thursday July 3.

Hosta Meltis is looking for an advertising agency for its New Berry Fruits and Droste confectionery brands. The account is worth 1.5m over 18 months.

Banks Hoggins O’Shea has picked up the 2m Virgin Interactive advertising account from TBWA/Simons Palmer.

Warehouse, the high street fashion chain, has appointed Harari Page to handle advertising for its autumn/winter collection. It is the first time the chain has appointed an agency.

Coast, the women’s fashion company, has appointed advertising agency Griffin Bacal to carry out the creative and media work for its next campaign.

Young & Rubicam is tipped to pick up the 1m-plus Air UK account following the airline’s split with EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper. Air UK recently integrated its UK activities with KLM, whose account is handled by Y&R. A spokeswoman for the company says that no other agencies are involved at this stage.

Adobe Systems, the California-based software giant, has awarded its 8.75m global creative account to Young & Rubicam. It is the first time Adobe has centralised its creative work in one agency.

The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) has launched an educational campaign (right), partly funded by the National Lottery, which encourages people to have regular eye tests. Using the strapline ‘half an hour could save your sight’, the ads feature blurred and spotted images, as seen by someone with an eye disease. The campaign, through DMB&B, breaks on Monday June 2 and will run in the national press, women’s magazines and on the London Underground, alongside slots on Classic FM radio. A direct marketing campaign will also spread the message through educational leaflets and posters in surgeries, chemists and libraries.

Mellors Reay & Partners has been appointed by the Advertising Standards Authority for the launch of its 35th anniversary ad campaign. Mellors Reay will service the account for free. CIA Medianetwork will handle the media on a similar basis.

…Mellors Reay & Partners will also produce a press and poster campaign for the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS), which will break next month. The campaign marks NABS Week. The ads liken the thrill of fundraising to that of bungee jumping.
