Fortune City to offer cheap CDs in Europe

Fortune City, the Kensington-based shopping mall and “virtual city”, has signed up Philadelphia-based online music retailer CDNow! to offer consumers across Europe discounted music compact discs.

According to Richard Jones, managing director of Fortune City.com, UK Net surfers will be able to buy CDs and other music-related products at a significant discount to UK high street prices through the US-based online retailer.

The site will typically sell CDs for between 5.60 and 3.70 plus postage and packaging and five per cent import tax.

“We are able to offer a huge range of music CDs available at US prices from CDNow!,” says Jones. CDNow!, which claims to be the biggest online music retailer in the world, will also offer 250,000 downloadable music samples to customers browsing the site.

Fortune City has also signed up Penguin, Waterstone’s, and dating agency Dateline over the past month to feature in its UK mall.
