Aquascutum ousts chief after rejig

Upmarket clothing retailer Aquascutum’s marketing director Shaun Lattin has been axed from his post after nine months.

Lattin was brought in by Aquascutum’s former managing director James Pow, who resigned in February after being summoned to Aquascutum’s holding company in Japan over the management of UK budgets.

Pow and Lattin, who had previously worked together at Alfred Dunhill Luxury Goods, attempted to update the store’s clothing range and revive the company’s tired image in the UK, which involved a redesign of the shop floors.

Lattin says he disagreed with the new managing director Jiro Tanaka, who was bought in from Japan to replace Pow over the future of Aquascutum. Aquascutum was bought by the Japanese company Renown in 1990.

Tanaka refuses to comment on Lattin’s departure or the future of Aquascutum.

Lattin, who was previously managing director of Chantelle lingerie company, is looking for another post.
