Yahoo! UK & Ireland has added UK news feeds from Reuters and the Press Association to its Internet search service, with the aim of improving the UK content of its homepage menu. The feeds can also now be selected from among the US-dominated feeds on the personalised my.yahoo service. The UK Yahoo service unveils details of research into its UK audience this week.

High street bookshops will face an increasing threat from Internet book-selling operations, according to UK publishers. Clive Bradley, chief executive of the Publishers’ Association, says that price discounting offered by book-selling Websites, combined with rapid search and ordering facilities, will put the sales volumes and profit margins of traditional British bookshops under increasing pressure.
