EMAP On Air hires marketing and commercial directors

EMAP On Air has made its first major appointments since its inception, by recruiting Malcolm Cox and Iain Clasper as marketing and commercial director, respectively.

Both move across from EMAP Radio to join the group’s recently launched sales house. Cox was marketing director and Clasper was commercial director. They report to managing director Tom Toumazis.

EMAP Radio set up EMAP On Air in the wake of Capital Radio’s takeover of Virgin Radio and the disbandment of EMAP’s sales house, Media Sales & Marketing.

Cox will concentrate on servicing the youth market, which involves broadcast brands Kiss and The Box.

Before joining EMAP Radio, he was marketing director at Kiss 100, where he was responsible for launching the Kiss brand in the UK. Before that he worked in TV.

Clasper, who joined EMAP Radio two years ago as commercial director, was previously national sales director for Metro Radio Group.

He will develop the systems for EMAP On Air to pursue the group’s long-held desire to increase its cross-media selling capacity.

EMAP On Air will appoint three other board directors, account directors responsible for selling across the group’s 18 radio stations.
