I write with reference to your story regarding Leo Burnett and its relationship with McDonald’s Corporation in the US (MW July 3).

Why does the story assume circumstances in the US are “almost certain to have repercussions in the UK”?

McDonald’s UK has been with Leo Burnett for over ten years. We have an extremely good relationship and I have no intention of making any changes.

McDonald’s senior management in the UK is responsible for all UK marketing activities, including the selection of our agency. There is no correlation between events in the US and our situation here in the UK.

All your report has done is create unwarranted speculation and provoke unnecessary concern among our agencies’ employees.

A call to check the facts would have been preferable all round.

Countless calls were made to the press office to elicit the required information. Without result, alas – Editor.
