Edinburgh agency 1576 nets Sky task

Edinburgh agency 1576 has picked up the 500,000 advertising business for Sky Scottish, without a pitch.

The brief is to reposition Sky Scottish into a football channel with an hour-long strand of football coverage and reportage nightly. It currently features contemporary Scottish programming, although it is broadcast throughout the UK.

1576 managing partner Mark Gorman says: “We are turning it into a televised football fanzine.”

Sky Scottish channel head Scott Ferguson says: “We liked the work 1576 has done for Bell’s Whisky’s football sponsorship in Scotland.” Media planning and buying – for TV, radio, press and outdoor has gone to Feather Brooksbank.

Sky Scottish is 50 per cent owned by Sky and 50 per cent owned by the Scottish Media Group. Gorman has worked on STV’s advertising in the past.

1576, a breakaway agency founded by three former senior Faulds Advertising people, also picked up the advertising account for Radio Forth three months ago.
