Two battle for 12m Calortex

Calortex, the gas supply company, has shortlisted Wunderman Cato Johnson and IMP for its 12m customer loyalty account.

Part of the brief will be to promote new products related to the company’s gas supply, including service contracts, energy saving schemes and warranties.

IMP is the company’s agency of record, and works on the branding and sales campaigns it has run in the South-west and Kent and Sussex areas, where deregulation of the gas market has been tested. Calortex says it has won 100,000 customers, nearly a third of the independent market.

Matthew Eastlake, customer retention and development manager, says: “We are planning to transform the relationship between the utilities and their customers. As de-regulation approaches nationwide, we expect a customer sales base of at least 1.5 million people.”

Calortex is a joint venture between bottled gas supplier Calor Gas and US oil giant Texaco.
