Friends after stolen glances

Wolff Olins creative director Doug Hamilton thought he was about to be arrested by the fashion police when a man started questioning him about his jacket on a recent flight back from New York.

The man demanded to know how he had acquired his new Nike jacket.

It transpired the man was head of PR for Nike and assumed Hamilton had stolen the jacket because he thought that the particular style was strictly for the use of shop-floor staff.

To the Diary’s relief, the two got on like a house on fire once Hamilton explained the jacket’s origin.
