Guinness 10m task up for grabs

Guinness Ireland is putting its 10m media account – estimated to be the biggest advertising business in the country – up for review.

Incumbent McConnell’s will pitch for the centralised account, which covers media buying for seven brands including the world-famous stout, along with Guinness Ireland’s other roster agencies, Irish International and Peter Owens.

The Network, which handles media buying for Guinness GB, has also been shortlisted, as well as All Ireland Media, a company part-owned by Carat which recently resigned the media buying for Whitbread’s rival stout brand Murphy’s.

HHCL & Partners handles the creative work for Guinness Ireland and this is unchanged.

Last month the London agency launched a surreal campaign for the stout, as the next phase in its “big pint” campaign.

The ad centres on the bond between twins separated by thousands of miles. As one drinks a refreshing pint of Guinness in

Dublin, the other is engulfed in water as a water tower collapses in the US.
