MGM resigns 3m Suzuki media amid strategy disputes

Manning Gottlieb Media has resigned the 3m Suzuki media planning and buying account, following differences with the car manufacturer’s managers.

MGM will work on the account until October when media will move over to Media By Design, the media-buying arm of Tunbridge Wells agency Nexus Advertising & Marketing.

The managing director of Nexus and Media By Design is Ian Norman, the son of Suzuki GB chief executive John Norman.

MGM chief executive Nick Manning says it had decided to resign the account because of disagreements on strategy, but would not say why the account moved. He also refused to comment on whether the link between Norman and his son influenced the decision to resign the account.

Suzuki GB marketing director Ian Catford was unavailable for comment.

Omnicom recently bought a controlling interest in MGM for 3.5m.
