Hanky-panky on the bus anyone?

It’s official. People in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow are prudes, whereas Londoners, Mancunians and Scousers are all for a bit of hanky-panky on their local buses.

Regional ad agency The Communications Unit has been upsetting bus companies in the afore- mentioned three cities by plastering images of naked, entwined bodies on the rear of their vehicles.

New advertisements for Rotary watch brand Reunion have been banned by Travel West Midlands in Birmingham, SMT in Edinburgh and Strathclyde Buses in Glasgow for being too “sexually explicit” and, in one case, for not “enhancing the caring image we are building for our bus company”.

The ads will, however, appear on buses in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, Leicester and Blackpool for the next six months.

The Diary has never looked forward so much to travelling to work in the morning.
