TAG Heuer to call pitch for global ad business

TAG Heuer, the luxury sports watch manufacturer, is understood to be reviewing its multimillion pound global ad account out of BDDP Paris.

It is thought BDDP is repitching for the business alongside EURO RSCG Worldwide and Bartle Bogle Hegarty in the UK.

TAG Heuer spent 2m on advertising in the UK in the year to March 1997 (ACNielsen-MEAL).

The Switzerland-based manu-facturer, which has just launched its Kirium range, would not confirm the review, a stance also taken by BDDP chief executive Jean Claude Boulet.

The TAG group acquired Heuer in 1985, making it the fifth largest Swiss watch brand worldwide.

TAG Heuer is positioned as a designer brand with the average watch priced at 700. Ranges are endorsed by sports celebrities, such as motor racing champion David Coulthard and hurdler Colin Jackson.
