…as SC Johnson pulls 10m account in Euro realignment

CIA Medianetwork has lost the 10m SC Johnson Wax media buying business following a realignment of the UK media business.

The account is strongly tipped to go to Optimedia, which handles Johnson’s media throughout the rest of Europe, except Spain. Last year, Johnson reallocated its global creative account to FCB – Optimedia is FCB’s preferred media agency.

Johnson marketing director Chris Librie says: “We’re studying our options – there is a historical relationship between us and Optimedia.” CIA has handled various Johnson brands for six years and has held the full UK business since 1994.

Librie took the position of marketing director at the beginning of September, before which he was a European category manager for Johnson.

Johnson’s biggest brand is Glade, worth 45m and accounting for just under half the company’s total sales. Other major brands in the UK are Pledge, and Mr Muscle.
