Durex maker LRC picks new UK marketing boss

Durex condoms manufacturer LRC Products has appointed a new head of marketing to oversee its UK and Ireland business.

Former regional manager for the Middle East and other international markets Leigh Taylor has moved to the UK headquarters in Hertfordshire, to replace Lewis Jones.

Jones, who was appointed senior marketing manager from St Ivel only a year ago, has resigned from the company to “seek pastures new”.

Taylor will have a much broader role than Jones, as he will provide marketing support to the regional managers in the Middle East and Nordic regions, and to the country manager of Turkey.

Taylor has worked for LRC – the subsidiary of London International Group which also manufactures Marigold gloves and Eucryl oral care products – for the past three years.

Working closely with the sales division, he will be responsible for all advertising, marketing and promotions and will report to managing director Bob Shire.

Taylor has held various international sales and marketing positions in his career, which included a spell at healthcare giant SmithKline Beecham.

Durex is the most famous of LRC’s brands with a 76 per cent volume share of the retail market, not including vending (IRI Infoscan, year ending May).
