Kodak axes Euro head in global rejig

Kodak’s marketing communications director for Europe, Joe Bogardus, is being made redundant as part of the company’s plans to cut global management by 20 per cent.

Michael Bushill, general manager marketing, consumer imaging for Europe, Africa and the Middle East is understood to be taking over his responsibilities. Bogardus will remain until the end of the year.

The move follows Kodak’s decision to cut costs by 20 per cent following a drop in sales and earnings. Redundancies at the staff level below management have not yet been confirmed.

Although Kodak remains the leading manufacturer of cameras and films, tough competition from Fuji has slowed sales.

Kodak’s third-quarter results, which were released yesterday (Tuesday), have shown a two per cent fall in sales and a 42 per cent fall in earnings year-on-year.

Only three months ago, Kodak consolidated its $300 (188m) global advertising account into Ogilvy & Mather. It was previously shared with J Walter Thompson.
