M&C to expand with Irish office

Lord Saatchi is planning to boost M&C Saatchi’s international network by opening an office in Dublin.

Saatchi, who masterminded several successful advertising campaigns for the Conservative Party and became the first advertising executive to be given a peerage, confirmed his interest in setting up a new agency venture in Ireland this month when he told the Irish press: “At the moment, we are looking for the right people to run it.”

He did not reveal if he was looking at buying a stake in an existing Dublin agency or setting up new offices.

M&C Saatchi will be following in the footsteps of other international agencies with leading London offices and a stake in Irish agencies.

Saatchi, who is married to the Irish novelist Josephine Hart and has a stepson at Trinity College, Dublin, let slip the plan while he was speaking at the launch of a new publishing company called Forward Publishing (Ireland).

The company is a joint venture between Forward Publishing (UK), of which he is a director; a Dublin design house; and a communications consultant.

Forward Publishing specialises in helping companies develop customer loyalty. Its main client is Tesco, and it publishes a magazine for the supermarket’s 10 million loyalty card customers in the UK.

M&C has seven offices around the world, including New York, Hong Kong and Sydney.
