RHM rejigs top management

Food giant Ranks Hovis McDougall (RHM) has reorganised its corporate structure and appointed a new managing director of Manor Bakeries.

Bisto Foods’ current managing director Gordon Plews will become md of Manor Bakeries, which manufactures and markets the Mr Kipling, Lyon’s and Cadbury Cakes brands.

Plews is to replace John Varney, who will retire after 38 years at Tomkins-owned RHM, at the beginning of December.

RHM will now be structured under the divisional headings: flour milling and packing; bread and morning goods baking; cakes; grocery brands; food ingredients and food service; frozen foods and partnership businesses.

A new grocery brands division is created, comprising Bisto Foods, JA Sharwood, James Robertson, Just Juice and Grocery Logistics.

Patrick Irving will take on the joint role of divisional managing director of the grocery brands and managing director of Bisto Foods.
