The Union wins 1m Martin Currie account

Scottish financial services group Martin Currie Investment Management has appointed The Union and The Media Business Scotland to its 1m account.

The creative pitch was against 1576, WWAV Scotland and First Financial. The Union originally pitched with media independent Feather Brooksbank, but TMB Scotland jumped into the review at the 11th hour to pick up media planning and buying.

The win is the first for TMB Scotland, which opened for business on September 1 – although the agency has inherited Scotsman Publications and Templeton Investment from its London parent. It is currently pitching for Standard Life’s media account.

Martin Currie had used Faulds Advertising for both creative work and media planning and buying for 12 years. However, the Edinburgh agency was not invited to repitch. Martin Currie marketing services director Chris Berger-North declined to comment on why Faulds was dropped.

Earlier this month, The Union won the 2.5m advertising account for Baxters of Speyside although it was not on the shortlist. Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO and Bartle Bogle Hegarty also pitched.
