…as marketing chief-to-be quits

Cadbury marketing controller for countlines Stephen Mawby, the man tipped as the next UK marketing director, has left the company.

It is understood that Mawby, who joined Cadbury three years ago as marketing controller for Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Flake and Time Out, does not have a job to go to.

“Stephen Mawby will be leaving the company on amicable terms as a result of a reorganisation in the marketing department,” says a Cadbury spokeswoman.

Mawby was drafted in to ease UK marketing director Alan Palmer’s workload and was seen as a potential successor. He led the marketing teams which launched Fuse and Wispa Gold.

Palmer takes up the post of international marketing director for confectionery at Cadbury Schweppes in the new year and Cadbury has yet to find his replacement (MW October 30).

Group product managers Julie Davidson and David Smith have been promoted to the posts of marketing managers, with responsibility for blocks and bars. They will work alongside Chris Houlton, marketing manager for the grocery division, and report directly to Palmer and his successor.
