Fuji UK marketing chief leaves

Film manufacturing giant Fuji has lost its top UK marketer Christopher Hobbs, who left last week.

Hobbs, who joined the company 15 months ago from the consumer audio and video tape division of 3M (MW July 19 1996), has already been replaced by national sales manager Roger Moore.

He is understood not have another job to go to.

In his position as divisional manager for consumer photography he was in charge of sales and marketing.

Hobbs played a part in Fuji’s battle to capture a share of the Advanced Photo System (APS) business, which was developed by five photographic companies, including Fuji and Kodak, at a cost of 750m. The company claims to have established a 60 per cent market share.

Hobbs was also hired to maintain 35mm technology and introduce digital cameras into the UK.

Fuji’s 6m advertising account is handled by TBWA Simons Palmer. Earlier this year, Hobbs switched the media planning and buying into Manning Gottlieb Media from CIA Medianetwork.

At the end of last year, Simons Palmer launched a poster campaign for Fuji targeting young Christmas party-goers.
