5m Mirror goes to Brooksbank

The Mirror Group has moved media planning and buying for its Scottish titles out of Zenith, awarding the 5m account to Feather Brooksbank. There was no formal pitch for the Daily Record and Sunday Mail business, although Brooksbank already handles non-TV buying for the papers. This is the second major piece of business in a month that Brooksbank has won when up against a top London agency. In December, it beat MediaVest and BMP Optimum to win the 10m centralised planning and buying account for Standard Life (MW December 12 1997). Brooksbank joint managing director Stuart Feather says: “We were fighting against the Mirror Group’s media centralisation with Zenith but we have a good understanding of the product as a point in our favour.” The creative account for the Record and the Sunday Mail remains at Faulds Advertising, which won the business last February. Separately, Brooksbank has won the 250,000 media account for Bahlsen, the biscuits and snack brand, from incumbent agency Booth Lockett Makin. In December, it also picked up the 400,000 media account for Mitsubishi Motors in Scotland. The creative advertising was awarded to The Union.
