Advertising agency Scholz & Friends London has picked up its first piece of UK business – the account to handle the launch of the first black vodka.

The German agency opened its London office in October. Blavod will be launched by the Original Black Vodka Company, a single product private company, at the end of March with a 1m-plus ad campaign.

According to Black Vodka Company chief executive officer Mark Dorman it has secured national distribution in the on- and off-trade.

“All other vodkas are colourless and neutral in taste,” says Dorman. “The difference between the 200-odd vodkas available is the label and the quality. But with this product, barmen can now offer white or black vodka when asked.”

Dorman is also the European marketing director for both the Californian prune and walnut industries. Smirnoff has a colourless brand called Black Vodka.
