Bulmer ignores family ties at JWT

Following the news that HP Bulmer has changed the agency for top-selling cider Strongbow from J Walter Thompson to GGT last week, there are no surprises for guessing the most awkward person at JWT.

The Diary refers of course to account planner Hugo Bulmer, a member of the famous Hereford-based drinks family.

One would have thought the agency had the review in the bag; the account had been on its books for seven years, and one of the family on its payroll. But this is one clan which doesn’t like to keep it in the family.

It seems that blood isn’t thick-er than water – or cider – in this case.
