Evans Hunt Scott, the direct marketing agency, risks losing its Ionica telecoms account after it emerged the agency was on the shortlist to pitch for rival Cable & Wireless Communications’ consumer business. Last week EHS denied it was on the CWC list.

Coopers & Lybrand, the management consultants and accountants, which is shortly to merge with accountancy firm Price Waterhouse, is looking for agencies. The company is planning to launch a global marketing campaign and create a new name for the merged entity.

Ogilvy & Mather used the services of a trained bat called Snoopy in a TV campaign for the UK florists’ trade body the Flowers and Plants Association, in a drive to encourage people to buy more flowers.

J Walter Thompson has pulled out of the McCain’s pitch because of existing client conflict, leaving Saatchi & Saatchi, the incumbent Poulters, Young & Rubicam and DMB&B on the shortlist.

Steve Bates, copywriter, and Mark Stephenson, art director, will join TBWA Payne Stracey on February 9 from DMB&B Financial. They previously worked at Wunderman Cato Johnson.

M&C Saatchi, in conjunction with live event organiser Caribiner, has won the Bethlehem 2000 account. Ogilvy & Mather, Hanover and IMG also pitched for the business, which aims to make Bethlehem a central part of the Millennium celebration.

Epson is to mount a 2m press advertising campaign for the Epson Stylus Photo inkjet printer to be launched next month.

Bupa makes its advertising debut on the London Underground at the beginning of February with an ad for TravelCover insurance which will appear in every carriage in every train.

Sony has added another agency to its roster with the appointment of Bates USA South to handle the task of launching a new video recorder in Latin America.

The Outdoor Advertising Association/Council of Outdoor Specialists poster conference in Madrid on April 23 and 24 will feature John Hegarty of Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Trevor Beattie of GGT as speakers, plus speakers from the poster business including Ron Zeghibe from Maiden Outdoor, Roger Parry of More O’Ferrall and Jean Francois Decaux of JC Decaux.

West Indies 98, the cricket Website launched by the Guardian and Wisden, goes live on Thursday. Its Web address is http://www.westindies98.co.uk.
