The Royal Shakespeare Company has hired its first advertising agency in ten years. The theatre company has previously handled all adver-tising in-house but has appointed Cogent, and its media division

PHD Compass, to run an estimated 750,000 account, which may include a corporate campaign as well as specific activity for plays such as Cymbeline (left). ‘The Royal Shakes-peare Company has a shorter season in London and it has increased its touring,’ says RSC director of marketing Stephen Browning. ‘We felt that the time was appropriate to make the change. This covers all local and national campaigns.’
