Mediacom wins 2m brief for US computer company

Mediacom has picked up the 2m account for US computer games maker Acclaim Entertainment.

It snatched the account in a pitch against incumbent agency Media Insight, who have a number of specialist technology clients.

Acclaim publishes software for computer consoles, such as Sony PlayStation and Nintendo, as well as for PCs and CD-Roms.

Frank Sagmier, Acclaim director of marketing Europe who is based in London, made the decision between the two agencies. The company’s worldwide headquarters are based in Glen Cove, New York.

Mediacom new business co-ordinator Joanne Rose comments: “We are delighted with the win. This is a growing market and we want to grow with it.”

The campaign will incorporate media buying for Acclaim across press, posters and TV.

The immediate project will be to work on its new game Forsaken, which is scheduled for release in May. The game is an action adventure chase and shoot-out game.

The company has plans to launch two other games later this year, and will spend an estimated 500,000 promoting them. The rest of the money will be spent on advertising a raft of smaller releases.
